SNPP (Simple Network Paging Protocol) is a TCP/IP based protocol for paging via the Internet. This protocol is relatively new, so it is supported by only a handful of paging service providers. Check with your service provider to see if they have implemented SNPP.
SNPP Requires an Internet connection accessible through a Winsock installed on the computer on which the PageMaster/ex connector is running. The following properties are required when using this protocol, and are detailed below:
ADDRESS | The IP Address or Domain Name for the SNPP Server |
PORT | The port number through which the SNPP server is accessed |
The ADDRESS property contains either an IP address or a domain name used to access the SNPP server (i.e. "snpp.skytel.com"). The PORT property specifies the port number used by the SNPP server.
If your Internet connection is through a firewall, it is important that a hole be created in the firewall to allow the data to pass through the port in both directions.
