WCTP (Wireless Communication Transfer Protocol) is an XML based protocol for paging via the Internet. Check with your service provider to see if they have implemented WCTP.
WCTP Requires an Internet connection accessible through a Winsock installed on the computer on which the PageMaster/ex connector is running. The following properties are required when using this protocol, and are detailed below:
ADDRESS | The IP address or domain name for the WCTP server |
PORT | The port number through which the WCTP server is accessed |
PATH | The path name to the WCTP server |
The ADDRESS property contains either an IP address or a domain name used to access the WCTP server (i.e. “wctp.skytel.com”). The PORT property specifies the port number used by the WCTP server. The PATH property specifies the path to the WCTP server. Do not append a slash to the beginning of the path name. A leading slash is assumed.
If your Internet connection is through a firewall, it is important that a hole be created in the firewall to allow the data to pass through the port in both directions.
