Version Changes
What's New in Version 4.6
PageMaster/ex 4.6 adds the following new features:
-
SMPP
Support - (PRO+SMPP Version Only) PageMaster/ex
now supports SMPP
(Short Message Peer to Peer Protocol) for sending SMS text
messages.
- SMTP Support - (PRO
Version Only) PageMaster/ex now supports SMTP as a "last
resort" fallback protocol for sending text messages to
email addresses should all available text messaging protocols
fail.
- COM Interface - Now includes a COM (component
object model) interface for sending text messages from another
application. Includes a type library file for easy integration
into COM compliant applications.
- 2-Way Internet Support - (PRO Version Only) PageMaster/ex
now supports the ability for 2-way devices to send replies
for text messages that originate from internet mail routed
through Exchange Server.
- Enhanced Direct Connect Capability - Now supports
failover from one PageMaster/ex server to another for text
messages sent via direct connections to text messaging terminals.
- Message Progress Logging - Individual log files can
be generated for each text message request received by the
connector. This file will be appended with data detailing
the progress and status of the message as it is transmitted
to the service provider.
- Automatic Export of Device Lists - All text messaging
devices that have been configured within AD may now be automatically
exported and backed-up daily at a designated time.
- Enhanced Monitoring of Service Status - The PageMaster/ex
service will now generate a "heartbeat" event at
a regular interval. The service can be confirmed as operational
by monitoring for the presence of this event.
The following features were added in PageMaster/ex 4.5:
- WCTP
Support - (PRO Version Only) PageMaster/ex
now supports WCTP
(Wireless Communication Transfer Protocol) for sending
text messages via an Internet connection.
- Improved Fault-Tolerance - Additional
text messaging engine improvements increase the engine's
ability to detect send failures and resubmit failed text
messages.
- User Configurable Message Format - The
format of the text messages are now entirely user configurable.
- Queue Viewer - (PRO Version Only) A
viewer is now included for the connection queue, the queue
of pending and active connections to service providers
and terminals.
- Unique PINs for Each Protocol - PageMaster/ex
now supports the ability to use different PIN numbers
for the same device depending on the protocol used.
The following features were added in PageMaster/ex 4.0:
- SNPP
Support - (PRO Version Only) PageMaster/ex
now supports SNPP (Simple Network Paging Protocol) for
sending text messages via an Internet connection.
- Support for Numeric Paging via TAP
and SNPP
- Previous version of PageMaster/ex allowed numeric messaging
only through DTMF. This version adds the ability to send
numeric messages through TAP or SNPP provided the service
provider supports this capability.
- Improved Fault-Tolerance - An upgraded
text messaging engine improves the connectors ability
to resubmit failed text messages.
- Temporary PIN Redirection - A new property
for each device permits the ability to temporarily redirect
a text message to a different PIN number.
- Multiple Access Numbers and Addresses
- Each service provider and device may now be configured
with a list of Access Numbers (TAP and DTMF dial-up numbers)
and Addresses (SNPP server names). Text messages are transmitted
to the first address, but in case of failure will automatically
fall back to alternates.
- Support for 2-Way Pagers and Cell Phones
- (PRO Version Only) PageMaster/ex now supports 2-Way
devices. Text message replies are automatically received
and sent via Email back to the message originator. When
requested via a delivery receipt, message senders can
also be notified when the message reaches the device.
- Import and Export Capability - Administrators
will now be able to import devices from and export devices
to a comma-delimited file.
The following features were added in PageMaster/ex 3.0:
- Multiple modem support - PageMaster/ex
now supports multiple modems per server. Modem resources
are managed automatically for the most efficient delivery
of your text messages. This includes auto-disabling of
modems that stop functioning.
- Removal of Auto-Signatures - A designated
character sequence that begins each auto-signature may
be specified so that the auto-signature may be removed
from the message before being transmitted to the device.
- Restricted Access Times - Each device
may now be designated to receive text messages only during
specified times.
- Support for Service Providers that Restrict Messages
Per Call - Some service providers restrict the
number of text message requests that may be send in a
single call. PageMaster/ex now allows this to be specified
for each service provider.
- Encryption of Pager PIN Numbers - PIN
number may now be encrypted in the pager Email address
to prevent users from gaining access to pager or cell
phone numbers.
- Intelligent Modification of Modem Init Strings
- PageMaster/ex now intelligently modifies the initialization
strings (if needed) when using the connector with multiple
service providers supporting different baud rates.
The following features were added in PageMaster/ex 2.0:
- Additional Logging Features- PageMaster/ex now
supports more intelligent logging. Log files may now be
kept as a combined file, as separate files for each device,
or files separated by day, week, month, or year. Log files
are now self-maintaining and may be automatically deleted
by age or size.
- Statistical Information- PageMaster/ex now maintains
statistical information on each connector displaying total
number of text messages sent, number of failures, number
of successful sends, and percentage of time the connector
was idle.
- Multiple Server Support- PageMaster/ex now supports
installation on multiple Exchange servers for load balancing
or fault-tolerance (additional server licenses are required).
- User Configurable Retries- PageMaster/ex now allows
the user to configure the number of retries in case of failure.
